The Global City for Wood Carving
In 2018 it was announced that, according to the vote of the “World Handicrafts Council”, Abadeh was registered as the global city for wood carving (Monabat). Abadeh city is located 274 kilometers north of Shiraz. It is a beautiful city with hospitable people. Due to being on Shiraz-Abadeh road, existence of ample gardens and farms, numerous mines, cultural and historical works, this city plays an important role in the culture, art and economy of Fars province, Iran. Woodcarving or Persian Monabat is one of the handicrafts of Iranians which dates back over 1500 years. Historical documents reveal that this handicraft was born in Abadeh city of Fars province. In this city various religious and historical monuments have remained. Abadeh Tourist Attractions are Kolah Farangi Mansion, Timcheh Sarafian, Izadkhast castle, Izadkhast Caravanserai, etc.
